Abstracts:

History of Ancient Kazan, tracing its roots back to antiquity, the image of megapolis, its sources, unrevealed mysteries and halo of mystique were a starting point for the creative teamwork in making the project of an “Ancient Kazan” multimedia CD. An exhibition held in Kazan at the end of the last century where for the first time one could see rare, unique exhibits from many Museums and private collections manifested a great interest of the wide audience to many unknown pages of the city’s history. And it has revealed the attention paid to Kazan by the world community as to a unique cultural and historical heritage memorial. In 2001, several months before the Kazan Kremlin was included into the UNESCO World Heritage List, the team started the work on the “Ancient Kazan” multimedia project. It would be appropriate here to say what meaning the anniversary dates, celebrated in the city have: in 2005 Kazan is celebrating its Millenium. And it is due to this fact that the idea appeared to present with the help of multimedia means the far Past, to show the preserved documents to people, the extensive knowledge accumulated by historians and archaeologists, reconstruction of the artists made on the basis of the studied sources and, finally, to try and reproduce the Past in such a way that it could be brought nearer and one could see its connection with the Present.

The report analyses the aspects in the theme that appeared to be of most interest to us and to the specialists while working on the project.
